The Magic River

Down to the river up on the bend

water trickling
down, down, down
water crashing into the waves of the river
woman washing clothes and children splashing in the meek waves
laughing and playing jumping and dancing
the young men start forward to fishing down to the river bay
the woman take their babies up to the hill by a lake to bathe
down the hill water crashes to the river below
mist rises
flowing up into the air swiftly turning into breeze
little blue jays awaken from the crashing waves of the river
it was time to sing their song
they sang all afternoon next to the men fishing the children dancing and playing the woman washing their clothes and the crashing magic river who spreads joy to all who come to see it
